Common use
Diacerein is used to treat joint conditions like osteoarthritis, which causes swelling and pain in the joints. It is mainly used to manage symptoms in the knee and hip joints and belongs to a group of drugs called anthraquinones. Often prescribed for long-term use, it helps reduce pain, stiffness, and difficulty in movement caused by osteoarthritis.
Dosage and direction
Diacerein is primarily available in the form of oral capsules. Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water. Do not chew or crush it. Always take this medicine during or after meals. Missed dose
If you miss a dose of Diacerein, take it as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not double up on doses to make up for a missed one.
Overdose
Overdosing on Diacerein can cause an increase in the severity of side effects, particularly gastrointestinal disturbances. If you suspect an overdose, contact your doctor immediately.
Storage
